about pase

History

On March 8, 2005, Partners for the Advancement of Surgical Education (PASE) was designated by the state of Missouri as a not-for-profit organization; in that same month PASE was awarded 501(c) 3 status by the Internal Revenue Service. The inception of an independent PASE organization arose from a growing recognition by medical educators from the Midwest and around the US of the vital importance of maintaining a technologically advanced learning environment in order to continue to provide advanced state-of-the-art educational opportunities for students and health care professionals. The Board of Directors thereby established an organization (PASE) with a singular purpose- to provide the resources necessary to support the educational programs planned and organized by Practical Anatomy and Surgical Education of Saint Louis University, and hosted at the PASE Learning Center.

What Makes Us Unique

Since 1990, Practical Anatomy and Surgical Education, a world leader of hands-on continuing medical education, has developed exceptional instructive techniques for physicians, nurses, physical therapists and other allied health professionals. The educational formats presented by Practical Anatomy – including 3 dimensional video, life-like cadaver preparations for hands-on training and state of the art operating room technology combined with renowned teaching faculty – are unique in structure and design. These year round, hands-on, multidisciplinary educational programs are well known throughout the US and around the world. Participation in the workshops contributes to the advancement of medical knowledge and technical expertise of surgeons and health professionals; thereby improving the overall quality of health care for people throughout the world.

In addition, Practical Anatomy’s renowned Adventures In Medicine and Science (AIMS) division offers students and teachers didactic and hands-on programs in science and medicine related fields. Health, wellness and prevention programs are presented to junior high and high school students who visit the laboratory to learn human anatomy through demonstrations, dissections and physician led programs. Distance learning offers similar opportunities for students worldwide through video conferencing. AIMS high school summer workshops provide initial exposure to medical careers for select juniors and seniors from across the globe. These year round educational programs have made and indelible mark in the St. Louis community and the world.
